Caltrans is abandoning plans to reopen a 4.4-mile section of state Highway 39 in the Angeles National Forest between Crystal Lake and Wrightwood, citing rising costs, engineering challenges and a mandate to protect bighorn sheep.

I may be alone with this reaction, but this is GREAT!!!!!  They should never have bothered trying to reopen that road.

Then they should give up ownership of it....which they wont. Its going to continue being a money pit and opportunity to cite people for walking on it.

good. pretty much all the reasons for opening up that section are B.S anyways, and everyone knew it was going to be a big PITA to keep open.
