Of course it's a free country and we can also have as many boards as people want to set up.
I think setting up Yet Another SoCal Hiking Board would be counter-productive without the cooperation of at least one of the existing two and half (really, the Gorgonio board is that sucky) forums. _________________ I'm aware that, for many people, a map holds neither meaning nor mystery. Simonov -- you're all right! I loved the "two and a half" comment.
I don't know if you have seen that tv commercial where the people hang out of the window and yell at the top of their lungs... " IT'S MY MONEY, AND I NEED IT NOW!" Well. That's how loud I am asking the following questions, AGAIN. IS THAT PICTURE UP THERE BALDY FROM IRON MOUNTAIN OR NOT? AND IF NOT WHAT IS IT? Thank you. sheeze. its as if you guys think you are more important than me or something.
Hey AlanK, how did you get rid of those ads?

*** Special thanks to DamOTclese for pointing me to this board ***
Hello to all, been lurking for a few weeks and have to say I'm impressed with what I've read and seen. Probably take me even more weeks to comment or praise the trips, photos and stories [eg: the Gorgonio night trip, the Jacinto survival story, Crystal Lake Crag climb and on and on...] You folks don't mess around
I don't get into the folds like I used to so I might be living vicariously through you all...
My favorite spots have always been Ice House Canyon, Chilao Flats, Crystal Lake, Mt. Wilson area... just about anywhere where the pines grow (relatively) tall.
I also love to hear about the history of the San Gabriels, so I'm big on the old camps and buildings. [that recent Switzer's thread was cool]
Ok, so to stop blabbing... hope to add something when/if I can here - but I think I will probably be following the footprints of you mountain stalwarts more than anything...
Hey, living vicariously through others is what I do best. But once in ahwile, I like to get out and test my own worthiness. There's all types of people on this board, some pretty serious, and others that just go out for a nice day hike. No matters, we all like reading about others travels and mostly looking at all the cool pics.
Next time you go out, if you happen to take a few pics, just post them on the Trip Reports sections with a little blurb about what you did, and you will see by our comments that we are all just a bunch of nice folks.
Again, welcome to the board and I hope to see some of your TR's soon.

Thanks EnFuego - very kind welcome from you... time and things are a bit tight these days, so I might chime with some older TR and photos vs. new ones - at least until I can get back up there and hit the hills.
I can't believe these TR with all this snow. You might find me at the Baldy eateries, sipping some coco before you see me on the trail

Don't let EnFuego fool you, we had to drag his butt back out to the hills just recently - he had been in "Hibernation" for some time. Once he went up Baldy with me, he got the itch so bad he's been getting sick at work at least once a week - his employer cannot figure it out
Outwhere, welcome, everyone here is very good at making people feel welcome.
Some are crazier than others, some have moved to other boards but you will find good advice, clean reports and most folks love the outdoors.
Hope to see you on the trail soon or at least at the "Establishments" next ot the trails if they serve good "Coco"?
