Pleasant View RidgeI wanted to get some exercise and escape the heat yesterday. Pleasant View Ridge from Cima Mesa fit the bill nicely. There were a few hunters around, but I had the ridge to myself. One of these years, I'd like to clear the track, regardless of steepness through the dense brush up to Will Thrall peak.
Don't know squat about beekeeping, but these hives appear to have been battered.
View into the Mojave was unusually clear.
North end of Little Rock Creek appears unscathed.
Bare Mountain appears to be a bit scorched, and Pacifico a lot scorched.
You can see some of the burn on the Northeast side of Mt. Pacifico.
North side of Josephine appears to be well done.
The brush bash that is the western approach to Will Thrall.
Both of these trails turn sketchy on the north side of the 7800' hump.
PVR, West of Thrall.

Following the ridgeline, it's about 6.5 miles from the beehives to Will Thrall summit.

Nice, Elwood!
Any bears in the area that could have smashed those hives?

There are definitely bears nearby. I saw one earlier this year near Cruther's Canyon and Cougar has footage of them too. I should've thought to look for tracks.

pleasantview ridge in my back yard.Nice pics.
My 20 acres butts up against pleasant view ridge ANF around 102nd street east, off of Cima Mesa.
I was up on the ridge three weeks ago, nice walk,.
the bee hives belong to a local bee keeper by bobs gap. they were destroyed last spring by a black bear.
I've never had a bear in my back yard, but mike lewis who owns the big 170 acre farm on cruthers creek where the burkhart trail starts sees them all the time because he has apple orchards.
The ridge has become my new every month hike. trying to lose all the weight I gained after a bad accident at work, and lots of surgeries.
too much Opra, vicoden and Pizza.
slowly shedding the TON of weight I put on.
The ridge is very nice, no people usually.
I too was noticing the chaparral up on the peak around 106th street.
I saw the posts re fiskars lopper, I think I'm going to go for the 15 inch bypass jobbers.
any one have an opinion re anvil vs bypass loppers
