New header picture

I put up a shot I took of the Bowl a while ago.

If anyone has a cool submission that has some writing in it (photosh00p skillzZ), post it here.

Since it's hot out right now, a picture that evokes a cool, mountain environment is preferred.  Cool

Well, since nobody said anything, this is going up next:

is that FightOn?

I'm not even sure I know what you're talken about.  Are you talking about the picture that is next to the "San Gabriel Mountains Discussion Forum" title of this board?

Are you looking for a "non" snowy picture of something in the San Gabriels for the spring, summer, fall months?

I just saw Rick Kent's TR of his Iron Mtn to Baldy traverse.  He's got like 200 shots.  Some of them are really nice.  maybe you can ask him for one of his pictures.  Take a look at image #8655 and #8674.  It's only one of several dozen that are nice.
Taco

I think a snowy one is a nice change of pace.

Tired.

It's a nice shot: the cloud and shadows are cool. . .

BTW, is that Wayne Newton in a fighting pose?

Good pic, especially the 'clipless' shoes that double as ski boots. Very Happy

(dang, I know lift tickets are getting pricey, but isn't riding a bike up to the lifts going a little too far?!? Shocked )

YO

FWI, if anyone wants to submit a new header picture, 450x150 pixels is the best size, JPEG format. Bonus points if it says 'SGMDF' or something snazzy and relevant on it.

Header picture changes. If anyone wants to submit their own images, go for it.

Nice pic.  Limber pine?  Where?  When?

Inquiring minds want to know.   Wink

BAM!  Cool

Congrats Norma, this is a great photo. White and blue goes well together. Too bad we won't be seeing those colors around here again for awhile.

God, I hate the heat. I can't wait for it to be fall already.

For real.

i hate the heat too.  i find it funny when people say they can't wait for the snow to melt so they can get back out and hike!  i prefer hiking in snow, but i gotta admit you can't beat the Sierra backcountry in summer.  pretty outstanding.

i hiked my local mountain Boney Mountain on Saturday and nearly passed out.  it was insane.  felt like i was in an oven.

Dave G and i beat the heat yesterday by hiking Baden-Powell, Burnham and Troop.  We even placed a new register on Burnham.  San G-er's need to get up there and sign it!  To keep us cool we filled our bandanas with snow and tied them around our necks and kept snow in our hats.  we ain't no dummies!  i'll post pix as soon as i load them.

thanx for using the photo Taco!  it was chance that i caught the snow falling.

No problemo.

Can't wait for it to snow again... can't wait for the next ice age. Cool
Taco

OK, since it's kinda sorta somewhat spring, sorta.... kinda... let's get a new header up. Submit your pics now!

Format will be basically what's up there now, so just copy that and find out the dimensions. Fancy writing might be nice.
EManBevHills

Nothing personal, Norma.  It's a lovely picture.  But if the format were different, I would suggest this one, since it's more in keeping with the quality of our local rock:
