New bear pics!

Here is our beautiful black bear (even though he's brown).  Same general location (I'll only say it's somewhere around Newcomb's/Chilao).  I hope no one shoots him!  He has to make it until the end of Sept, then he's safe for the winter.

Thanks for the pictures, cougar! Here's a video of his cousin I took two Sundays ago.

nice!

That's awesome!  Quite an athlete.  I've never seen one "live" in the San Gabriels, only from the trailcam.  That must be cool.

Yes, incredible! It would have taken me a good 15 minutes to cover the distance and terrain that he did in the 30 seconds that passed before I was able to switch to video mode.

I read that bow hunting season for bears is short , but rifle hunting is longer?
Run, Yogi!

Here's a pdf file about bear season. Bear season goes until December 28th or 1700 dead yogi's...which ever comes first.

(btw, I misread the pdf when I posted hunting info on the other thread.)

Archery season starts earlier than rifle (=general) season.
Archers may also hunt during the general season.

The bear population in CA is growing and expanding into new areas.  Places they've never been before, like the Santa Cruz mountains and San Diego County and other areas south of I-10.

Yes Fight On, as in kill a bear season; as opposed to kill the Bruins.  Very Happy

I wish! no, this was taken with a motion sensing camera.  I was safe at home in the suburbs at the time.

Laughing ya know I should have thought about that one! Laughing
If I was a bruin fan I sure wouldn't be wearing any baby blue and gold up there. All it would take is one dopey hunter to think it meant BRUIN SEASON!  Laughing

Hmmm...this sounds interesting. Is it the old trail (I think it is a myth) up the south ridge of Muir Peak that you are looking for?

I wouldnt be surprised if its a myth.  I know theres a ton of trails in those parts and was seeing if there was a launching point to get to Muir.

AW...sent you a PM.

Now let's get back to bear talk!
