Two noted wildlife experts will present a special program on two of the most challenged species in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Nelson bighorn sheep and the mountain lion, at a Sierra Club meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eaton Nature Canyon Center, 1750 N. Altadena Drive.

Ray Sauvajot, a wildlife manager for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, will describe how to hike safely where mountain lions live and the challenges they face from urban encroachment and habitat destruction.

Jeff Villepique, a state Department of Fish and Game wildlife biologist, will discuss the fate of Nelson bighorn sheep and the recovery program he leads to restore their population.

The program is free and the public is welcome.
