Mt. Wilson Toll Road, High Pt. 4320+: 10-18-2009Hiked up to High Point 4320+ just off the Mt. Wilson Toll Road southwest of Mt. Yale.
Saw at least a dozen deer in the Henninger Flats area and above.
Looked down on Hastings Ridge and yes they created a new firebreak all the way up to the Toll Road.
They also created a new firebreak most of the way up the southwest ridge of Mt. Yale, but didn't go past the first steep rocky part of the ridge. The firebreak continued southwest up to High Point 4320+.
Pics.
East side of Mt. Lowe...
Head on a swivel...
Antlers...

I think you are referring to pictures 28 thru 32 which show what I think is a new firebreak that runs from Mt. Wilson Toll Road to near Idlehour Camp then up the east ridge of Muir Peak. Anyway, hears a link to a map showing where I took the pictures from (marker B), with markers C thru H showing the firebreak.
Marker A is High Point 4320+.

That looks like the ridge from Panorama Point down to Eaton Canyon....
The "trail" by the utility poles looks like the "Telephone Trail" just below Esme Saddle.
This is the canyoneers route into Eaton Canyon

This map shows where I think those photos are showing
I could be wrong... But I'd sure like to descend the ridge down to Eaton Canyon and descend the canyon to the Nature Center.

The link I provided above shows where the pictures were taken. I don't think the trail/firebreak in the shadows in the pictures is the old Telephone Trail.

looks like the SE ridge to Muir Peak. before I could make out an old trail on google earth - and then I looked at those old 1940's topo maps and there was a trail/firebreak there.
