Big Sale!

Howdy guys,

Selling a buncha stuff. I have general pics of stuff, so if anyone needs a real specific shot, lemme know. I will not ship, so it's all pickup. I am in West Covina.

Notes:
-I take good care of my gear. That said, some of it is dirty. Crampon straps have blood in them from the most recent climb, so I apologise. Adds to the character of the gear. Wink
-I have taken zero falls on my protection, just rappells and belay "leans", if you will. No damage. I wouldn't sell bad gear.
-I prefer to sell the hexes and nuts as sets, as in all the nuts at once. Reason being, it's a huge pain in the ass to find someone who wants to buy a random #8 nut.

I'd keep prices a tad lower, but I really need the money. It's going for a good price, so I feel.

DMM Boa Quick-Lock $20 each
OP Jake quick lock $15
Metolius screwgate $SOLD

All others $5 each

-BD 50 liter Predator (old style) pack $SOLD
A few holes, otherwise great condition. Did a few mods (matress pad to help with load carrying), and it comes with a free Jesus Christ air freshener, which helps, trust me.

-BD Spire (Standard, not compact) trekking pole $SOLD

-I have some slings, but they're mostly used, so if you really want one, chances are I'll throw one or some in if you buy something fancy. 11MM DYNEEMA SOLD
-I am selling books as well, some mountain ones as well as a ton of firearms and special operations related stuff. Not sure how interested anyone is.

SHOOZ

Merrell Phaser Peak Size 13 $50
Medium use, good condition. Has some sole material cut off so that one can wear strap crampons with them, as you can see on the heels.

Evolv Defy Size 13 $30
Medium use, good condition. A sport shoe.

ALSO, as a side note, I am selling a 1990 Nissan Silvia/240SX, mostly stock KA24E 2.4L I4 SOHC, mostly stock everything else for about $3k. I love it, but I want a different car right now, as I don't make enough $$$ to deal with this Silvia. Will take you across the twistiest roads in the SG's faster than any rich dude and his lambo.

*Looking for ITB (Throttle Bodies) for a Toyota 4A-GEU 16V, aftermarket N/A application camshafts, any other bits and bobs.

ASK AWAY! You can post questions here so everyone know's what's up.

SHOVEL BEING HELD FOR LILBITMO

Understood

Been playing competative softball for 32+ years and decided this past year to take a break completely. It tends to keep me from enjoying the Mountains as much as I like - so no explanation needed.

Hope to catch you on the hills again soon.

Thanks

Taco -
You can auction off your soul here (or buy one if you need another):
http://sell-your-soul.com/how_soul.htm

This site will give you cash for your soul:
http://www.wewantyoursoul.com/

BUT, is it really possible to sell you soul?

Answer: In the fanciful tale of Dr. Faustus, a man makes a deal with the devil: in exchange for his body and soul, the man is to receive supernatural power and pleasures for 24 years. The devil agrees to the trade, and Dr. Faustus enjoys the pleasures of sin for a season, but his doom is sealed. At the end of 24 years, Faustus attempts to thwart the devil’s plans, but he meets a frightful demise, nonetheless. This legend works well as a morality tale and as a metaphor for the wages of sin, but the details of its plot are not biblical.

The Bible has no instance of a person “selling his soul” to Satan, and it never implies that making a bargain with the devil is possible. Here is some of what scripture does reveal about Satan:

1) Satan has power enough to oppose even the angels (Jude 9; Daniel 10:12-13).

2) Satan seeks to deceive by masquerading as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).

3) God has provided the means of defending ourselves against Satan’s attacks (Ephesians 6:11-12).

4) Satan’s power is limited by God’s will (Job 1:10-12; 1 Corinthians 10:13).

5) As “the god of this world,” Satan has dominion over those who live without Christ in the world (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Surely, there are those who suffer under direct satanic control, such as the young medium of Philippi (Acts 16:16-19). And there are those who have devoted themselves to the devil’s work, such as the sorcerers Simon (Acts 8:9-11) and Elymas (Acts 13:Cool. However, in each of these three examples, the power of God prevails over Satan’s slavery. In fact, Simon is offered a chance to repent (Acts 8:22). Obviously, there had been no irrevocable “selling” of Simon’s soul.

Without Christ, we are all under condemnation of death (Romans 3:23). Before we are saved, we are all in bondage to the devil, as 1 John 5:19 says, “The whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” Praise the Lord, we have a new Master, One who can break the chains of any sin and set us free (1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Mark 5:1-15).

Sale

Some of us wondered how long it would be before you decided to stay sane?

Great to hear Taco - by the way, the snow shovel came in quite handy Thursday night in Tamarack Valley - cleared the way for two tents and shored up the guy ropes as well. So some of the stuff you sold is going to good use.

Thanks again, Lilbitmo

TacoDelRio

Cool

I'm good. I learned some things from buying the gear, so I'll be lighter next time, with fewer pieces. Thanks!

that's alright Taco, less climbing = more extreme hikes. how about a baldy-iron-baldy traverse?
TacoDelRio

I think I'll pass... Laughing I'd do it for a lot of money.

Baldy - Iron - Baldy Travers

Let's go one better Ze, let's go Baldy, West Baldy, Iron, Baden Powell, Wright Mountain, Dawson Peak and Harwood and call it a day.

I'm in for any of that. Need two weeks to train for it though.

Let me know.

That would be a heck of a hike!  Shocked I was with you except for the Baden Powell part.  I think in that order would make me take a dirt nap!  Laughing  Laughing
TacoDelRio

I got into climbing partially because hiking bored the hell outta me.

There should be a hike where you meet various wizards and shit along the way, and they issue you challenges on your QUEST. You can always just walk past them or shoot them, but that's kinda cheating.

Shooting is cheating?  Dang.  I've been doing it wrong for all these years...

How about this:

Park at Vincent Gap
Descend East Fork until you reach Vincent Gulch / Prairie Fork
Ascend Pine Mt Ridge to Pine
Head over to Dawson
Descend Dawson Trail and down Fish Fork to Fish Fork campground.
Descend to Iron Fork.
Ascend S,SE ridges to Ross Mt.
Ascend to Baden Powell.
Down to Vincent Gap

Why would we have to sh*t along the way?  Would this be sorta like marking our territory?

We could park one car in Wrightwood, one at the Vincent Gap. Go up the trail in Wrightwood that leads to the PCT, Grab Wright Mtn, Pine, Dawson, Baldy, West Baldy, Iron, then down to the narrows cross over ascend either Ross Mnt ridge and Baden-Powell or go west up South Mt Hawkins Ridge to Hawkins, Throop, Mt Burnham, then Baden Powell and down.  Laughing
Now that's a day, either way I'm in.

Are you coming to the Bridge this Sat? We can talk about it there.

Thanks

Let's see how far off topic we can get this thread...

Off Topic

That's what happens when you make plans to go to a bridge to "Nowhere" Laughing

You end up going everywhere - or dreaming of it as "EnFuego" has indicated.

I like that thread, AlanK and Rick M are capable from what I've seen of their past posts.

Did Travis ever make the 13 peaks or did he quit at 11 and call it a day?

What's the list of the 13 - Sugarloaf, Ontario, Big Horn, Cucamonga, Etiwanda, Timber, Telegraph, Thunder,Harwood, Dawson, Pine, Baldy, West Badly? is my guess Rolling Eyes

This hike sounds sick! Let's do that instead of Bridge to Nowhere, I've done the bridge a billion times... this would be sweet!

I'm up for a day of hell.  Lets do it.  In late March though.  I got some secret stuff going on until first weekend in March.  This weekend hike is jsut a quickie to the bridge.  I need to be back by 3-4'ish.
Liz

Day of hell?

I'd love to join a "day of hell."  Can I maybe tag along, boys?

Hike of Pain

Zack and Liz - I will work with Ze to see when we can do this but it will not be this weekend, not enough time to prepare for that much mileage.

I think there's one or two other folks that may join in.

One other thing we should consider is bailout points - it's always more successful if we have a plan that allows people that have hit the wall to head out on there own. The other thing we may consider is putting water in stashed spots so we don't have to carry as much up the major climbs. I did this with another group in Mid Oct before we did the 9 peaks hike along the San Bernardino Peak Divide Trail - we went up two weeks prior to the hike and put 2 litre bladders in some rocks below one of the summits so that we could just grab it and go.

I'm thinking the first or second weekend of March would be perfect - snow levels should be at or around the summits of the big boys - Baldy, West Baldy, Baden Powell, and most of the other summits will have very little snow or ice, mostly on the North facing sides and slopes.

I have not been on Iron or anything between that and Baden Powell but have done the hike from West to East from Islip Saddle to Baden Powell and down to Vincent Gap in winter of 2006 solo with my dog Lucy, that part will be ice if it continues to snow or stay cold.

I will pull out my GPS software and start plotting things to see what the mileage is, the Profile, etc... etc.. ect...

Let's plan at least one difficult hike before that so we can all make sure we really want to do this.

Any ideas or any information for the stuff West of Iron to the narrows, up to Mount Hawkins South would be greatly appreciated. From there is fairly straigth forward - does anyone know if there's a trial leading away from the Narrows up to Mt Hawkins South?

Thanks

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You, sir, have earned 2 points.

I'm hiking Rabbit and Villager peaks this saturday, so no Bridge for me.

When the snow/temp permits, I'll be doing Manker-Baldy-Iron-Baldy-Manker, not sure if anyone is up for that.

For sure, the Baldy Loop variations are the best for multiple bail out points.

I have not yet reach S mt Hawkins, Mt Hawkins, or Ross, so I would love to get those. not sure if its feasible to ascend ross from east fork. but all that will have to wait for the snow to go.
TacoDelRio

BTW, I kweet my yob last night, so if anyone wants to buy any of my shit...
