Adventure Pass temporary shortage

http://www.vcstar.com/story/news/...can-use-2016-passes-now/96184030/
"Due to a lack of available 2017 annual Adventure Passes, Los Padres National Forest visitors using standard amenity recreation fee sites can display their expired 2016 annual passes until Feb. 28, forest officials said.

The policy also applies to the Angeles, San Bernardino and Cleveland national forests in Southern California.

People who don't have an expired 2016 annual pass can purchase a daily pass for $5. Visitors without a pass could be issued a citation. 2017 annual Adventure Pass will be available for purchase beginning March 1.

Information on valid recreation passes, such as the Adventure Pass and America the Beautiful (a National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands pass) can be found at http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/r5/passes-permits/recreation. For a list of the recreation sites at the four Southern California national forests requiring an Adventure Pass, please visit www.fs.usda.gov/adventurepass."

It would be super awesome if I could turn in a stack of $5 day passes in March in exchange for the Annual Pass I wanted to buy last week.  Sad

"Since Nov. 1, about 50 Los Padres National Forest day-use areas and car campgrounds have been signed over to private concessionaire management by Parks Management Co." who doesnt take adventure passes so....

Dang, I tossed mine in the trash last week!
Seriously, how can there possibly be a shortage? That's poor planning.

Adventure Pass

Doesn't this apply to only those people who bought a pass in January or February 2016? The pass is good for 12 months from purchase, not a calendar year. If you bought one in June, 2016, it's good until June, 2017.
