The air quality looks awful today.

The race promoters statement that "There is no fire burning anywhere close to Mt Baldy."

Seems a little --well----uh----ignorant.

But then who knows --it is 2 days away---- one good rain may solve this problem.

Isn't the Angeles National Forest closed?

Completely closed.  Looks like the Baldy run is dead.

You're massively right.   Laughing

Doesn't the run start in Manker Flats?  I guess they could re-route to Stockton Flats, but Stockton doesn't have much in the way of infrastructure.

A large portion of the race course is in the ANF.

I guess a closed forest trumps bad air quality.

It's not looking like a go. Sad

FWIW: My interpretation of the ANF closure order - Events with a Special Use Permit are allowed unless the permit is revoked. According to the Run To the Top website, the run is still a go.

In contrast, the Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run (Sept 19) also has a Special Use Permit but it was revoked earlier this week. Therefore, the run was canceled. Makes sense as 40-50 miles of the trail has burned and access to the remote aid stations towards the end of the run is non-existent...
