I took a morning off from work and took my son Daniel to Stony Point on Thursday July 24 to teach him how to rappel.  We set up anchors in 4 different places and practiced.  He picked it up very quickly.  I also set up a top rope and he practiced a little climbing.  Being the middle of the week early in the morning, no one else was around.  The following week, I took him down Colby Canyon (3 rappels) for his first real canyoneering experience (I wrote about this yesterday).

I'm thinking Bailey Canyon for his next canyon.  About 12 rappels, all bolted as I recall.  I also remember one drop which involves a free rappel so he'll get an introduction to that.

Every August, I take Daniel and my daughter, Alicia, on a backpacking/climbing trip to the Sierra Nevada.  I'm planning this year's trip right.  We'll probably start at the Bishop Pass Trailhead at South Lake (west of Bishop) and pack into the Dusy Basin.  Hopefully, we'll bag one or two peaks, but mainly we like to have a relaxing time.

Special time...I wouldnt recommend Bailey though at this time as it could be overgrown.....Rubio&Eaton are pretty much year round canyons...it is true that I despise Bailey(and Hastings) though  Very Happy
