I went for a run in Blackstar Canyon in the Santa Anas yesterday after work. I  started out at about 5pm down the fire road, the temps were still high probably mid-high 80s.
Lower reaches of the canyon are pretty
Ran past the turn off for the popular waterfall (probably dry anyways) and up the winding road.
Cool views down into the canyon where the scramble to the falls is.
Ran past the Indian morteros and the meadow where hidden ranch used to be.
The upper reaches of the canyon were great! Nice and breezy with open meadows.
Eventually reached the main divide road and beeks place.
Spent a few minutes enjoying the sunset and views down into the IE.
Then I ran out via this sweet single track trail that meets up with blackstar road cutting off a mile of boring fire road. I got back to my car at about 8pm.
Blackstar canyon to beeks place ~15mi 2500ft
